The route follows verified story progress

The original player's walkthrough gains more automatic story checks, a visible tracking status, and individual controls for manual corrections. Existing checklist choices and game saves stay separate.

The first walkthrough release recognized only the Mana Sword automatically. Its coverage and tracking status were tucked inside the options, so the route could appear stuck while the game advanced. This repair expands the read-only progress rules and places their status and coverage beside Up next.

The new rules follow original Potos and Water Palace story events, party recruitment and learned elemental spells. A visit alone never establishes a boss victory or completed conversation. Some earlier actions have no independent persistent flag and are confirmed retrospectively when a later original event proves they happened. Other objectives continue to offer manual checks.

Your checked and unchecked manual choices still take precedence. When a manual choice affects an automatically detectable task, the route now explains it and offers Use game progress beside that task. This removes only that one correction. Check now reads the current game again; Resume checks re-enables an explicitly paused tracker. Neither control starts, resets or resumes the game itself.

The checklist retains the same storage key, schema and 162 objective IDs. Automatic results follow the currently loaded game after stable observations, including earlier snapshots; manual choices persist. The tracker reads work RAM without writing game RAM or cartridge SRAM. The original cartridge and retained emulator files are unchanged, and the separate unfinished Java build remains at 0.16.0.

What changed

  • Expanded the original-USA progress profile using reviewed original event commands and learned-spell records, with manual fallback for unsupported tasks.
  • Removed the old idle-animation restriction from persistent story checks while retaining exact-cartridge, supported-field-state, range and stable-observation guards.
  • Added visible tracking status and automatic/manual coverage, Check now, Resume checks and targeted Use game progress controls.
  • Advanced route ordering from verified later milestones while retaining older unproved tasks for review.
  • Clarified the sword pickup objective so cutting the return-path bushes is no longer implied by its pickup flag.

What we verified

  • The checklist UI passed 51 tests with 316 assertions. The final guide retained 162 IDs and passed 13 preservation checks; independent review checked 23 original instructions, 3 map triggers and 8 magic-grant sequences.
  • The final progress module passed 75 focused checks and 29 original-ROM source bindings. All 20 automatic rules have source evidence; only the waterfall prerequisite and sword pickup have genuine gameplay capture coverage. The later 18 rules remain source/model tested.
  • Twelve assertions in the exact pinned browser core verified genuine opening captures, stable observations, earlier/later rollback and menu/pause handling. Twenty read-only observations preserved every serialized game-state byte.
  • Actual browser checks verified the final 20-rule module, two opening completions, earlier-state rollback, preserved manual false and targeted restoration, visible status, Resume checks, and 390 px / 1440 px layouts. Private generated captures were loaded through the original player; no human save was used.
  • The current browser host denied fullscreen requests. The existing fullscreen helpers are unchanged and retain their earlier contract tests; this repair does not claim a fresh successful fullscreen browser test.
  • The release gate binds the unchanged cartridge/runtime, 267 Java files, four frozen downloads, controller/cache integration and all nine earlier journal records and article bytes. HTTPS publication is verified separately after the bounded upload.

What remains unfinished

  • Automatic detection remains partial. Unsupported visits, conversations, bosses and optional preparations require manual checks; a full guide does not imply full automatic coverage.
  • Expanded late-game rules are based on reviewed original cartridge scripts and controlled rule tests. The complete campaign and every new milestone have not been replayed in the retained browser core.
  • The separate native Java reconstruction is still unfinished at 0.16.0. This update repairs the original emulated player's website walkthrough; it does not complete the Java campaign, battles or audio engine.
  • A checklist export backs up checklist choices only. It does not back up the game's save file or an emulator snapshot. No physical controller test is claimed for this repair.
