Because play
is worth preserving.
A personal archive for games worth returning to, and for the work that makes returning possible.
Games carry more than their files. There’s the music that comes in at just the right moment, the feeling of the controls, and all the small details that make a familiar world feel like itself.
This archive starts with Sol-Feace for Sega CD and continues with the recovered High Velocity Bowling music in Revived PS3 Games. The aim is to keep the original material accessible, bring the experience back into a usable player, and leave enough of a record for the work to be understood and continued.
Keep the source close.
Original game data is retained alongside recovered audio, graphics, source evidence, and the tools used in the project. Recovered material and new additions are identified separately.
Make changes visible.
The Sol-Feace player includes optional three-hit shields and invincibility. Those additions are editable JavaScript and temporary runtime patches. The player also offers original mode by turning both options off.
Optional assistance is a choice, rather than a claim about how the original release behaved. Preservation notes explain those choices, the checks that were performed, and the limits of the current work.
Grow at the pace of the work.
This is a small, personal collection. New entries will appear when there is something ready to play or examine. The PC and computer-game section is reserved for future projects, with no unpublished games presented as finished recoveries.
