/ CONTROLLERS

Play with your controller

The HD preview now accepts USB and Bluetooth HID game controllers exposed by your browser. Standard layouts work automatically; Map controller lets you assign movement and action buttons for other layouts.

Partial first-level development preview. Controller input does not complete the campaign, audio, animation or save systems.

Connect and play

Connect your controller by USB or pair it with your computer using Bluetooth. Open the game page and press a controller button so the browser can discover it. Release the buttons and center the sticks. On the HD preview, Start begins or resumes the mission; during play, Start uses the original game’s pause input.

Other HID layouts

Choose Map controller on the HD game page, select your device, then follow the movement and button prompts. Let each control return to its resting position between assignments. The mapping is kept in this browser, separately from game saves. Cancel leaves the previous mapping intact; Reset returns to automatic standard controls.

The game uses the browser’s Gamepad interface and standard physical button layout. Device discovery and compatibility depend on what the browser and operating system expose. This does not give the webpage access to arbitrary HID devices or require an additional device-access permission.

Original SNES editions

The preserved Mario player and earlier Juno SNES reskin retain their existing Controls remapping and Check controller recovery panel. Standard left-stick movement now follows the D-pad mappings. Their existing face-button assignments remain east = jump, south = spin jump, west / north = run.

Click the webpage’s Start once to load either original edition. After changing tabs or returning from sleep, click Resume. Use Controls to remap other layouts. The existing save namespaces, ROMs, emulator core and optional time-control settings are retained.

Held controls and disconnects

In the HD preview, keyboard, touch and controller inputs can be used together. Releasing one input source preserves another source’s held control. Leaving the HD game page or disconnecting the active pad pauses the preview and clears held inputs. Reconnect, release the controls, and choose when to resume. A held Start button does not automatically launch or resume after reconnecting.

Verification and remaining coverage

Focused automated fixtures cover native SNES button words, analog deadzones, custom mappings, held-button release, mixed input sources, controller replacement and reconnect behavior. These software fixtures do not establish that every physical controller or HID adapter works. Physical hardware compatibility and extended gameplay remain unverified for this update.

The closer 1920 × 1080 presentation remains in place. The original level data, native movement, collision, actor behavior and PAL timing are unchanged.
