Both belong to this project. Each player explains how it runs and what is ready to play.

Japanese release / SNES emulation

Play the original game.

The complete original Japanese ROM runs in a browser SNES emulator. This preserves the original game program, progression and soundtrack.

This player uses emulation. It is separate from the rebuilt JavaScript engine.

Our new engine brings back the Japanese artwork, source scripts, mouse controls and reconstructed rooms. Follow the work as more of the original game is rebuilt.

Incomplete: later routes, combat, spells and quests are still being reconstructed.

The recovered opening

The morgue, hallway, streets, station notice board, hotel corridor and injured man’s room run in the native engine. Original door and item scripts, Japanese captions, inventory and native save states carry the progress.

Mouse and controller input

Click the floor to walk and objects to interact. The recreation supports keyboard input, browser gamepads and optional HID mapping. Physical controller compatibility varies with the device and browser.

The requested Matchbox guide

The free Matchbox offer and restored hidden-room shortcut are optional additions requested for this recreation. They are identified separately from the original Japanese game.

Keep a local copy

The native project remains available as a downloadable package. Browser saves stay in the browser that created them; export and import can move a native save between the local and hosted players.
