Back to the
original shadows.
The complete original Japanese game, running through a browser SNES engine. The cartridge bytes are unchanged. The optional Matchbox guide below adds the requested shortcut. Our separate JavaScript recreation is still being rebuilt.
Enter the shadows.
Start the original game with its own story, systems and music. Keyboard, browser-recognized controllers, and the SNES buttons below are supported.
Ready. Start the original game to load the cartridge.
Original controls.
A browser home.
Click the SNES buttons above, use your keyboard, or connect a controller and press one of its buttons. Configure controls lets you select Player 1 and remap inputs. Controller availability depends on browser recognition; the original game retains its SNES interface.
Mouse and touch
The buttons send original SNES inputs. For direct mouse movement and object interaction, try the separate JavaScript recreation.
Save here.
Take a copy.
Save snapshot keeps an exact original-game position in this browser. Export snapshot makes a portable backup; Import snapshot restores that file. Original in-game cartridge saving is also handled by the SNES engine.
Browser storage belongs to this website and browser profile. Clearing site data removes browser saves. Saves from the JavaScript recreation are separate and cannot be loaded into this original-game player.
About this edition
This is the supplied Japanese cartridge through self-hosted EmulatorJS 4.2.3 and Snes9x. It includes the full original game with an optional, newly added Matchbox guide. Find him farther up-left outside the morgue, talk to him, then choose Use Matchbox to visit the original hidden room. The guide uses original artwork with new English dialogue. Turn the guide off for the cartridge's normal behavior. ROM bytes are unchanged; the shortcut changes the running game's room request and, if needed, Matchbox ownership.
The music heard while playing comes from the original game. The separate music player currently holds one recovered recording, rather than the complete soundtrack.
Original game, graphics and music belong to their respective creators. Cartridge and runtime provenance · Runtime file checksums · EmulatorJS GPL-3.0 license · Snes9x license · Local runtime changes and source links
Complete frontend source is included under runtime/src/. The runtime uses local files, with remote version checks and CDN fallback disabled.
