Recovering the opening’s auxiliary-palette behavior

The early opening pose gained its original palette-copy callback while keeping the recovered main character artwork intact.

Retrospective on October 13, 2026. Published here on October 25, 2026.

Build 0.13 implemented the palette callback used by the supported opening animation. It copies five original color words and follows the animation’s original frame and status rules.

The renderer did not recolor or redraw the preserved main body art. Source checks guarded the palette payload, program words, family mapping and velocity presets before the native world could advance.

A later startup trace in build 0.15 corrected which fresh-game equipment palette should be selected. That correction is recorded here rather than silently rewriting the older milestone.

What changed

  • Implemented the opening pose’s palette restoration and bounded source-status path.
  • Added explicit checks that hold the world when required palette or program data changes.

What we verified

  • The original auxiliary-palette suite passed 4,327,972 assertions at this milestone; original atlas cells and main body colors were audited separately.

What remains unfinished

  • General equipment palettes, ordinary idle behavior and full palette history were not implemented by this update.

Next in the rebuild

Restore the ordinary idle sequence and continue checking fresh-game initialization.
