COSOM GAME PRESERVATION

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE · NOVEMBER 2, 2026 · 1.2.0

The music of the original Lagoon.

The original System disk contains a custom ZSD sound driver and banks for YM2151 FM instruments, music sequences and sampled percussion. We kept those original SOUND files intact and captured each populated music cue using the pinned px68k core.

The native music tables have 64 slots. The archive also captures 22 FM effects, 9 sampled effects and 23 individual music samples, using the same original driver. It retains the defined but unused music sample and documents the original effect-table quirks. Slots 00–39 are populated; 40–63 are empty. The driver’s loop and end commands establish38 looping cues and two finite cues. Looping recordings run through two native loop returns, then fade together for four seconds. Finite cues retain their full native ending and a short tail.

A private music-only IPL program starts each cue. Two guarded driver counters observe loop boundaries without changing the notes, instruments, tempo or original sound bank. Reduced pre-mix levels avoid integer clipping; each stereo recording is then peak normalized to −2 dBFS and encoded as MP3. The recording notes contain the exact settings and limits.

The player has category filters for music, FM effects, PCM effects and music samples, a searchable playlist, native audio controls, Previous/Next, volume, optional play-next/repeat and track downloads. The English game, Japanese edition, saves and journey checklist retain their previous identities.
