  • Three recovered room cues replace the old rough morgue loop: morgue/hallway, Tenth Street and Seems Familiar. The hidden room retains the source inherit-music behavior.
  • Music uses verified source sample-frame loop intervals. Seven finite native sound aliases play from live original script events, including Scalpel pickup.
  • Pause freezes the audio clock; Sound controls music and effects together. Room changes and snapshot restoration discard stale sound events.
  • Lossless recordings retain source hashes, room headers, alias-table mappings and original call arguments. The complete editable native project is updated to0.14.0.

What was checked

384 automated tests passed with no failures;9 optional original-ROM/WRAM checks were not configured. The20 new audio tests include a real original Scalpel bytecode event.27 real-browser Web Audio checks passed: all10 lossless files verified and decoded, all3 loop boundaries matched PCM16 with zero mismatches, and pause/resume/mute/inherit/effect handling passed. Actual native page controls covered Scalpel pickup, street travel, Sound, Pause/Resume and isolated8097 snapshot Save/Load without browser warnings.

What remains

The full native game remains incomplete. This is a room-header music and centered-recording playback adapter; dynamic conversation/combat/death cues, the original spatial/priority/DSP mixer and other sound programs are unfinished. Native snapshots do not store the audio playhead. Unready effects are dropped rather than replayed late. Physical controllers and original-hardware audio output were not tested.

The requested free Matchbox guide is an identified enhancement in the recreation. It does not change the ROM used by the original-game player.
