Your chosen save file.
The original Chrono Trigger player begins with a choice to create a local save-state session or load one you already have.
Keep the same session file
Choose the session before starting the cartridge. The session keeps the state needed to continue the original game. When the game saves during a supported session, the player updates the chosen local file through the shared save-session interface.
A successful save message follows a completed file write. A canceled, denied or failed write remains visible and is not reported as a saved file. Save-session files are separate from the existing browser snapshot and checklist exports.
The exact save-event coverage and browser support are recorded below and in the project status. The original cartridge and self-hosted emulator runtime are preserved.
Validation and coverage
The actual pinned browser core passed generated-file tests on L: using the native file picker. Two original in-game saves updated the same selected file, with close and full readback verification; a fresh page reopened it and restored the later save. The reopened handle was read-only, and a denied write showed an error without changing that file or announcing success. Save as with a new filename created a writable recovery file, and the next original in-game save updated that new file only. The cartridge and actual running WASM identities were verified. Legacy JSON and explicitly associated raw-state restoration passed actual browser checks; download copies were distinguished from file writes. The focused adapter, codec, detector, runtime-proof and startup checks total 106 passing checks. No human saves were used.
Automatic file updates require a writable file handle. The in-app browser can reopen a file read-only; use Save as with a NEW filename or download the latest copy. A download is not reported as an overwrite. Detector polling can miss a save completed and closed between samples, and the saturated native save counter requires Save session now. No human save data is used in testing.
