Shadowrun’s next task stays beside the game

Route and Completed views organize the original game’s automatic checklist, with current-chapter priority, manual corrections and a way to return checked tasks to the route.

What changed

The left walkthrough now separates unfinished Route tasks from Completed tasks. Checking a task moves it out of the active route; unchecking it in Completed returns it. Both views keep the original numbered instructions and chapter grouping.

Up next gives unfinished story tasks in the current chapter priority. Source-proven required objectives identify the chapter; an optional pickup or a late personal check alone does not identify a later game position. Older unfinished tasks remain below the current chapter. Show full guide reveals future chapters, and search can find their tasks without changing the game. Once the ending is detected from the game, Up next stops recommending earlier tasks; older unchecked rows stay available for review.

An explicit unchecked correction now wins over automatic evidence until you check the task again or choose Use automatic checks. The game’s observed evidence stays intact. Returning to automatic checks clears personal overrides for detectable tasks while retaining personal checks for the three manual preparation suggestions.

The queue keeps focus on a surviving task after a row moves, supports keyboard tab selection and preserves open chapter choices separately in each view. Rows moving upward receive a short transition. The compact mobile preamble puts the tasks closer to the panel heading; Up next scrolls the target through the page into view. Reduced-motion preferences disable transitions and smooth scrolling.

The existing browser checklist storage key and v1 original-game snapshot envelope remain in use. Older local completed lists and snapshot metadata are accepted. New snapshots may add manualUnchecked IDs beside the existing manual, observed and milestone history, bound to the same exact RAM fingerprint and Japanese 1.3 progress profile. Loading a snapshot restores its own checklist; a metadata-free older save recovers only facts still supported by its game state.

The complete 100-task route, 97 source-backed automatic detectors, ROM bytes, 47 pinned runtime files, Matchbox guide, controller adapter and native JavaScript recreation retain their previous contents and identities. The player and sidebar import one shared versioned tracker module. Earlier release records and dated articles remain unchanged; this interface update has its own wrapper 1.4.0 record.

Verification

The progress-model and existing engine/source suites passed 29 tests. They cover true and false corrections, malformed and older metadata, exact-state snapshot rollback, native new/load boundaries, source-based chapter selection, optional-task ordering and read-only original RAM.

The new release-gate fixtures passed 54 checks, including the complete controller/walkthrough/automatic/queue chain, immutable predecessors, repeated identical preparation, same-shell page regeneration and refusal of changed ROM, runtime, detector, history, cache-import or direct-memory-write source. The helper only plans shared discovery changes.

Twelve pure queue/storage/presentation tests and 17 legacy sidebar assertions passed. They cover route and completed grouping, optional-task handling, future search, manual corrections, the unchanged numbered instructions and the original storage migration.

The retained controller-wrapper release suite passed 49 checks, preserving its existing hosting, guide/native distinction, source history and default private discovery planning.

Supported browser checks exercised the actual interface with a controlled tracker: Route/Completed partition, manual false corrections, reload persistence, clearing overrides, keyboard tabs, source-based chapter priority, search and ending/earlier-save behavior. These interface checks did not simulate a completed native campaign.

The actual unchanged Japanese ROM booted in the original player, rendered its 256 × 224 canvas and enabled the controls and snapshot toolbar. The title guard correctly reported zero automatic completions. Manual browser snapshot save/load was exercised with the final model before the subsequent mobile-only layout patch.

On the final 390 × 844 real-player page there was no horizontal overflow. The compact panel placed the first row 266 pixels below its heading. Keyboard Up next brought its target into the viewport with input focus; completing a task moved focus to the next task. This does not claim that the first task is visible at the initial page fold.

Exact local source/archive verification checked all 250 copied native files, including the declared controller-only HTML extension, and the frozen native ZIP checksum. It also verified the unchanged Japanese ROM, all 47 pinned runtime files, the 100 stable route IDs and 97 automatic definitions, plus the earlier release records and articles.

Limits

This update changes the website checklist presentation and metadata, not game quests or campaign logic. The original Japanese game still runs through the separate SNES player. The native JavaScript recreation remains incomplete at 0.13.0.

Automatic detection retains its established 97-task coverage and three optional manual choices. Brief past events may be missing from an older save without matching checklist metadata. A personal override changes only the checklist and can intentionally disagree with source evidence.

Source and controlled-state tests do not establish a complete Japanese-campaign playthrough, physical-controller behavior or browser save durability. No new game-RAM addresses or writes were added.

The native-player boot and manual snapshot check do not establish full-campaign progression, physical-controller play, closing/reopening-browser save durability or original in-game cartridge-save recovery. The broader checklist/restore scenarios used controlled tracker states; brief native actions retain the existing manual fallback.
