An original PlayStation player preview, separate memory cards, and gallery page controls
The preserved USA disc has a separate emulation preview with raw Card 1 backup/import controls. Its actual browser boot and in-game save/reload remain unverified. The artwork gallery also gains coordinated page controls.
What changed
- Added a separately labeled original PlayStation emulation preview with self-hosted EmulatorJS 4.2.3 and PCSX-ReARMed. The unchanged supplied BIN and BIOS are retained; a unique relative CUE preserves both original disc tracks.
- Added raw 128 KiB PS1 Card 1 format checks, explicit browser-storage flushes, card backup/import controls, separate save naming and one-tab locking. Invalid imports are refused before writes; failed imports attempt recovery and retain a downloadable pre-import backup.
- Disabled emulator save-state controls in the original edition and enabled SRAM protection so original-card progress is kept separate from snapshots. The Java build and its eight reconstruction checkpoint slots are unchanged.
- Added top Previous/Next buttons, a page chooser and existing zoom integration to the Castlevania artwork gallery through two coordinated changes. The shared gallery assets were already published and their actual HTTPS hashes were verified.
- Preserved all earlier dated journal entries and the frozen 0.19 source archive. Added source hashes, licenses and explicit verification limits for the new edition.
Still unfinished
- The original player is an unverified preview: actual browser boot, keyboard gameplay and an in-game memory-card save followed by browser reload have not yet been tested. Both project chats were refused automated browser control by the Work setting.
- The 79 card-module checks cover synthetic card validation, filesystem persistence callbacks, imports and rollback; they do not prove original-game save-room behavior or browser persistence in a running game.
- The editable Java 0.19 reconstruction is still incomplete. Its campaign, original memory-card compatibility and full game systems remain unfinished; its checkpoint JSON stays separate from the emulated original’s raw PS1 card.
- Physical controller/touch testing and a full campaign playthrough remain outstanding. Browser gallery layout/interaction was not retested; source preservation, syntax and 260 page-picker state checks passed in the coordinated gallery work.
The original PlayStation edition
Play the original through the pcsx_rearmed emulator core. Its save format is ps1-raw-memory-card-128k, separate from Java reconstruction checkpoints.
Memory-card saving: not yet verified.
- 79 card-adapter checks and static source/asset verification passed. The source BIN/BIOS and Java engine remain unchanged.
- Actual browser boot and in-game card save/reload are not yet verified. The original is labeled as a preview.
Java milestone 0.19.0. Java website cards retain their separate reconstruction-checkpoint format.
