Monster World IV: a walkthrough that follows your adventure

· Version 0.1.1

The route now checks game goals automatically, follows loaded saves and rewind, and adds right-trigger fast-forward and left-trigger rewind.

Play the original · Music · Sound effects · Images and zoom

What is available

  • The left-side guide now tracks 68 game goals automatically: 50 story goals and 18 optional goals across all 13 chapters. Eleven instructions without reliable saved completion evidence appear separately as Playing tips.
  • Completed goals follow the current verified game position. Loading an earlier session, quick-loading or rewinding can return goals to Route. Title screens, attract demonstrations and unverified game sessions do not count as adventure progress.
  • All 79 original route record identifiers remain compatible with existing notes and imports. Explicit manual corrections remain available and can be returned to game progress; automatic results are derived from the loaded adventure.
  • On a standard controller selected for Player 1, hold RT/R2 to fast-forward and LT/L2 to rewind at the speeds selected beside the game. Keyboard F/R and the on-screen controls remain available. Releasing the trigger returns to the prior play intent.
  • The supplied cartridge, retained emulator build, portable save format, music, sound effects, image archive and earlier development articles are preserved.

Verification

  • Original 68000 code and scene/script records establish the observed quest flags, item awards, Life Drop totals, original SRAM/Continue behavior and final transition. Twenty-six native proof groups include positive and negative fixtures, a real opening conversation, older-state rollback, and title/attract-mode rejection.
  • In the actual browser, normal opening dialogue moved its goal from Route to Completed tasks without clicking a checkbox. Loading the earlier generated test session, quick-loading it and rewinding across that conversation each returned the goal to Route. Paused observation and a 390-pixel mobile layout also passed.
  • The completed data passes 98 guide/UI checks, 24 read-only progress sampler checks and 26 integration checks. Separate controller suites pass 45 driver checks and 22 independent integration checks, including release, neutral rearming, Player 2 isolation and rewind boundaries.
  • Thirteen save-callback regression cases pass against the final player source, preserving deliberate pauses, blocked failures and current session ownership. Test sessions and private runtime research remain outside the public payload.
  • The bounded update retains the previously verified audio and graphics bytes. Release gates check source hashes, earlier article retention, exact changed paths, links, JavaScript syntax and privacy before a separate publication step.

Limits and remaining work

  • Later campaign milestones have original-code and controlled native-fixture evidence; a full natural campaign has not been played. The guide observes provable game state and does not invent a history for unrecorded optional actions.
  • Playing tips include pet practice, growth fruit, some dialogue, healing preparation and the four-pet battle instructions. They are useful guidance rather than automatic completion claims. Life Drop totals are temporarily unknown during the original conversion lock.
  • A physical controller was not available for this update. Trigger behavior has deterministic driver and integration tests; actual hardware verification remains outstanding.
  • Rewind retains approximately 15 seconds at ordinary speed and uses bounded capture intervals. Fast-forward targets depend on device performance. Existing manual corrections override automatic results until returned to game progress.
  • This edition preserves the supplied English-modified cartridge through Genesis emulation. Exact translation/patch authorship, remaining graphics contexts and complete campaign/hardware coverage remain unresolved as recorded in the first release.

The supplied cartridge and original media remain preserved with source hashes. Optional browser controls are preservation enhancements. This article records this website release on its actual publication date.
