MADDEN 93 — 2027 / RAVENS EDITION 0.1.0

Baltimore takes the field.

The 2027 edition starts with the Ravens: a new team presentation, purple-and-black uniforms, and a dated current roster.

A separate playable edition

This fan modification sits alongside the original John Madden Football ’93 archive. Its derived cartridge has its own verified identity and browser snapshot format. The supplied archive, original cartridge, preserved player, media, old release packages and original saves remain intact.

The original engine’s fixed team table is retained. Baltimore repurposes Cleveland’s slot in this edition and is selected by default. Team labels, presentation art and palette data are modified in the cartridge itself. The preserved original still contains Cleveland.

The core uses an edition-specific, memory-only native scratch mount. Keep progress between visits with the separate browser snapshots or downloaded snapshot files; native game files alone are temporary. The preserved original and shared runtime files are unchanged.

The current roster, with a date

The source is the official Ravens roster and official depth chart, retrieved October 28, 2026. The archive records 52 active players, eight injured/reserve players, two designated for return, and 16 practice-squad players. “2027” names the project; no finalized future-season roster is claimed.

Madden 93 has 35 player records per team and no native player-name fields. This build assigns 34 distinct active players to those 35 records, with LaJohntay Wester covering both return roles. Current jersey numbers are stored in the ROM; the named roster on the project page records each assignment. The other 18 active players and all reserves remain in the full team register.

The legacy offense requires a fullback. Matt Hibner, officially a tight end, occupies that record as an explicitly labeled scheme adaptation. Defensive assignments use broad DL, front-seven and defensive-back groups where the old engine’s formation roles differ from the modern depth chart. Player attribute bytes and team rating fields remain their legacy values; these are not new performance ratings for Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry or other current players.

The Ravens look

The team mark is converted from an official Ravens source for the Genesis display. Uniform colors are changed through actual cartridge palette data, keeping the original game’s player sprites and animation. The public page includes captures from the modified running game and the source record for its changes.

Game and save verification

The derived ROM is rebuilt from explicit, hash-guarded patch operations. Its checksum and original integrity check are recalculated for the modified bytes. Independent checks validate all 35 jersey records, retained attribute bytes, other teams’ roster records, and exact IPS reconstruction.

The retained browser WASM boots the derived cartridge, advances state, and restores an exact native serializer snapshot. Portable snapshot checks reject damaged files and mutually reject saves from the original edition. Browser checks cover startup, team presentation, the field, controls, roster filtering and snapshot restoration. A full match, season and physical gamepad test remain unverified.
