AKIKO X68000 MUSIC RECOVERY — 1.0.0 / November 2, 2026 Eight original USO music sequences were recovered from the supplied first DIM disk. Their original filenames are retained. The missing number 07 is not invented. AKIKO.PCD is the shared PCM instrument bank, required for correct percussion/sample playback in four tracks. The original TANK-OS 2.03 driver runs the sequences under a pinned X68000 emulator; these are emulation renders, not physical-hardware recordings. Every MP3 contains three minutes, after removing boot silence, with a four-second closing fade. Exact loop boundaries and full song lengths remain unverified. Rendering is 44.1 kHz stereo, followed by a 20 Hz high-pass filter to remove the ADPCM DC component and FFmpeg 7.1 / libmp3lame 160 kbps encoding. No loudness or peak normalization is applied. The manifest records each original sequence and resulting MP3 hash. REPRODUCING The recovery-source ZIP includes intake.py, make-music-disk.py, render-core.cjs, build-music.py, this README and original source hashes. It contains technical code only, with no game disks, game imagery, dialogue, firmware, driver binary or instrument-bank binary. Original sequences are provided separately in original-sequences.zip. You need your own supplied DIM source and its ZIP companion. Use Python 3 and Node 24. Put the source copies under intake/ with their original filenames. Run intake.py; then build-music.py. Place the pinned WebX68k checkout in runtime-research/WebX68k/. Set AKIKO_FFMPEG to an FFmpeg executable. Generated music-only boot programs replace MAIN() in research disk COPIES and call trap 0 functions 0x92 (bank), 0x90 (sequence) and 0x91 (play), retaining the original -pAKIKO.PCD startup option. They do not run the adventure program. Never edit original disks in place. The emulator binaries are not redistributed here. The retained upstream build used Emscripten 6.0.7. Original music belongs to its original creators. The supplied edition is labeled IDES (1993). TANK-OS credits Yasuhiro Suzuki. No new license is asserted over the original music. This release provides public music listening and technical recovery notes only.
