AKIKO — SELECTED PIXEL ART, 2026-11-02

Sixteen explicitly allowlisted images were visually reviewed at native resolution.
This is a curated subset, not a complete extraction. Other image files, the game
program, dialogue, and disk images are not part of this public package.

Version 1.1 expands the original eight-image set with eight more reviewed files:
AK50 (school office), AK46 (entrance), AK47 (tennis courts), AK48 (lobby), AK49
(bedroom), AK04 (classroom), AK11 (gymnastics practice), and AKIKO (title).
The backgrounds are original complete images; some contain clothed people.
No character removal, invented room detail, or scene reconstruction was applied.

Method: strict, bounded GPC decode using four bitplanes, horizontal/vertical XOR
restoration and row interleaving. The embedded palette stores 4-bit red at bits
4–7, green at 8–11 and blue at 0–3; components are expanded by multiplication by
17. Indexed PNG exports retain native geometry and palette with no retouching,
resampling, transparency substitution, or AI-generated content. Source drawing
offsets are recorded in manifest.json; these standalone exports are not full
game-screen captures. PNGs are static; original animation/timing is not restored.

Use: Python 3 and Pillow. Run:
  python decode_gpc.py selected-gpc/AK01.GPC output.png
Run decoder-checks.py for independently constructed palette/geometry/interleave
fixtures plus rejected malformed input. All approved files consume their entire
compressed stream, have native dimensions, and use at most 16 colors.
