An entirely new cast
Akiko, Naomi, Marina, Priya, Claire and Daichi share a Japanese-speaking community. All six principal characters are adults. This edition uses twelve new background illustrations and six transparent portraits, each with neutral, smiling, thoughtful and concerned expressions, all created with built-in ImageGen. No original Akiko game image is shown in the active game.

Japanese voices · English subtitles
All 289 dialogue clips are newly generated Japanese synthetic performances from ElevenLabs v4. Choose English or Japanese dialogue subtitles with vocabulary hints; choices and journal guidance remain in English. The Japanese script adapts the authored English dialogue and preserves the puzzle clues, names and ending choices.

Learn with the dialogue
Read English with Japanese word hints, or Japanese with English word hints. The Japanese dialogue text is the same script used by the voice recordings. Dictionary readings use kana and Hepburn romanization; vocabulary notes are contextual glosses rather than literal sentence alignment. Save useful terms in the browser-local notebook. Music
One Small Kindness (opening) and There Is Room for Us (ending) are new original Suno compositions in a warm retro FM-synth style. They are not uploaded-audio remixes. Gameplay retains the recovered original Akiko theme; credit belongs to its original music creators. The original soundtrack remains documented in the music archive.
